This series of paintings focus on everyday relationships. By confronting issues of morality in the form of paintings, whether the viewer's response is approval or disgust, Scott's paintings invoke discussion. Through such debate and argument the artist hopes that problems within society may be highlighted. This range captures the innocence yet sometimes powerful resilience that a child can show.
Punch and Judy
This series of paintings is uses the Punch ans Judy theme as a tool to highlight the problems in our society, and the characteristic red and white stripes associated with the puppets find themselves as wallpaper within the home.
Misunderstood
The expressive hand gesture has had four meanings over the centuries, here it is used to portray the constant battle of misunderstanding between the young and the old - the old fail to understand the optimism and enthusiasm of the young. In turn the young fail to appreciate the wisdom of their elders moulded through decades of experiences.
We need to understand and respect each other's differences, through understanding comes acceptance and through acceptance comes a more harmonious way of life.
